On our MissFits Facebook page, I’ve been asking ladies what their challenges are to getting fit during the holidays. Many mentioned the cold air…and pie. Some say that it’s being in “the right frame of mind.”
How do you get in that frame of mind when all you want to do is be warm and cozy, eat comfort foods, party, and simply be in the holiday spirit?
First, you have to remind yourself that there will always be one more treat you can enjoy. You need to have an attitude of ABUNDANCE versus SCARCITY. Sometimes, we overindulge because we live in the moment (as if other moments of indulgence won’t come). And we all know that’s not true, because we live in such a rich society.
Second, be a little tough – and honest - with yourself. ”The right frame of mind” is simply an excuse to not do what you need to do. Are you always in the right frame of mind when you have to pay your bills, or get your oil changed, or brush your teeth, or help your kids with their homework? Probably not. But, you simply MUST do these things… or you’ll ruin your credit, your car will break down, your teeth will rot, and your kids’ grades will suffer.
Make fitness a priority – even if you don’t feel like it this holiday season.
