They can also “test-drive” our class tonight so they can see what it’s all about first! Just let us know. (We’ll have the class video available tomorrow by noon and it will be emailed to you).

Week 1 Question:

Where do you struggle when it comes to planning and how will you work to overcome those hurdles this week?

Please share below! We encourage you to share your ideas with others who comment as well!

Three 2012 Predictions (1 of 2)

I like to predict what’s going to happen in the fitness/health industries and how it may affect you. So, here are my first three predictions for what you may see in the coming year. Let me know what you think!

#1 – More “Natural” and “Organic” products flooding the market.

Every year, our country becomes more aware of the rising cost of obesity and unhealthy lifestyles – we see it in the rising health care costs and all of the wellness products that come to market each year. I predict we will continue to see natural alternatives to daily products and foods we enjoy, like paraben-free skin care products, low glycemic “soft drinks”, and non-GMO foods.

Take Note: Because the organic food industry has enjoyed exponential growth, you will see a lot of items with the word “natural”, and organic on them. READ CAREFULLY. Personal care products and foods are manufactured at a lower grade of quality than pharmaceuticals (which are held to higher standards). So, just because a company claims that their product is natural or organic, does NOT mean it’s good for you! KNOW what you’re consuming.

#2 – Increase in Digestive Problems and Food Allergies.

My recent classes on digestive health, developed after my “detox week” at Sanoviv Medical Institute in Mexico, generated a lot of interest that I didn’t know existed. There are a lot of people out there with digestive problems like bloating, gas, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and a host of other yucky things you’d rather not discuss. Yet, having good digestive health is imperative to a high quality of life (nutrient absorption, disease prevention, and simply feeling good after you eat!) Because we’re bombarded with so many chemicals, preservatives, hormones, refined flours and sugars (and will continue to be, despite the natural products on the market) more of the population is going to develop food allergies and digestive issues. Just look at all of the gluten/lactose/soy/nut-free products on the market now compared to 10 years ago.

Take Note: It’s time to get serious about your digestive health. If you’re experiencing a lot of gastrointestinal distress, begin by eliminating high-allergen foods in your diet. Take a digestive enzyme and probiotic (even if you don’t have problems, these are great for your gut health!) And really work at cutting down on grains – especially gluten-based grains. Over 70% of Americans are gluten-intolerant and don’t know it!

#3 – Daily Deal websites will increase lack of seriousness in fitness and weight loss programs

I think online discount coupons like Groupon, Living Social, and Weekly Plus provide incredible bargains for consumers to try out different fitness or weight loss programs. However, one problem I predict is that these sites will create a lack of seriousness when it comes to making a commitment to a particular program. While it’s great to try things out, at some point one has to commit, and focus on what’s really important: the PLAN to reach your goals, not the best deal you can find. (And the “best deal” may often be one you pay a premium for because it’s a fully integrated program like nutrition workshops, individual attention, mindset coaching, special-focus classes, fitness evals, etc, that delivers RESULTS).

Take Note: We greatly value YOU. While you may see ladies come in from online deals to try out our program, we will never water down our services to you. We are a FAMILY, not just another workout. What are some offerings you’d like to see in 2012? While I’m working on great programming for this year, I’m always happy to hear from you! This is YOUR program, which I’m constantly refining and tailoring to meet your needs. :)

Well, those are my first three predictions…with more to come. What do you think – am I off base or do you agree? I’d love to know, so share in the comments below!

Committed to your success,

Priscilla

Every Successful Person You Know Has This

I often talk about the importance of accountability when it comes to reaching your goals.

Having someone who will help you stay on track when you may lose focus or feel discouraged is essential for your long-term success.

Think about the most successful people you know…

I’ll bet they have a partner, teammate, coach, or friend that stood by their side every step of the way to their success.

Accountability is probably THE essential component that has helped them reach their highest aspirations.

Have you ever watch the Biggest Loser show?

One of the reasons the participants are successful is because they have trainers like Jillian Michaels holding them accountable (and threatening to kick their butt!)

Just as important: The contestants are part of a supportive team that expects their members to work hard at their goals in order to win.

Their stories are inspiring. However, I’ve also seen the sad stories of those who, after the competition is over, gain ALL the weight back!

Why do you think that happened?

Because they no longer had their team and trainers there for them – not to mention the hundreds of thousands of eyeballs watching them on TV!

How about you?

Do you have an accountability partner – someone who will encourage you but who’s also willing to give you tough love when needed?

If not, you need to find one NOW.

This doesn’t only apply to your fitness and weight loss goals.

Accountability is critical to your long-term success at any goal – whether it be related to your career, finances, or even a relationship.

I’m here to help you! It would be an honor for me to be your accountability partner, too.

If you’d like to meet for a no-cost one on one coaching session in person or by phone, please email me to set it up.

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great weekend.

I’m committed to your success.

Play the Movie

Nine Things You Simply Must Do to Succeed in Love and Life by Dr. Henry Cloud, is a book I highly recommend.

One of those 9 things you should do is “Play the Movie.”

This has to do with thinking about the consequences of your choices and how they will play out in the near or distant future.

Think about what this would mean for making healthy eating choices and staying committed to exercise…

Do you have certain “triggers” that lead you down unhealthy paths?  (This applies to many areas of life, but I’m focusing on food-related triggers).

Maybe you come home late at night, you’re tired, you had a stressful day, and the last thing you feel like doing is cooking.  You think, “I deserve a treat” or “I’ll do better tomorrow.”

So, you grab a not-so-healthy snack, which then leads you to eat more unhealthy foods, which feeds your emotions but not really your spirit – you begin to feel guilty, or frustrated, or angry at yourself for making a bad food choice, especially since you know better…. and you know you’ll never reach your goals this way.

And so the story goes….

What if, as you walked through the door, you “played the movie?”  What if you played out this scenario in your mind so that you were armed and ready to make a different choice – because you already know how the plot will play out if you don’t?

I find this a very effective principle:  Play the Movie.  Identify the triggers that lead you down roads you want to avoid – whether they’re food-related or something else.

Empower yourself to change the storyline!  You CAN change when you become more aware.  :)
