Hello Transformers!
Welcome to Week #4! You are more than half way through the Challenge and you’re all doing GREAT! This week we focus on enjoying restaurant-dining without sabotaging your diet. Often, we’re seeing great results and then we go out over the weekend…and gain two pounds! So, what will you do this week to enjoy your social life, stick with your goals, yet not deprive yourself? Come to our nutrition class or watch it online and learn simple strategies that Coach Terri and I use to stay on track!
Glad u are getting more positive Sarah, and getting more confident!! Go you. It’s like teri always says “your six-pack starts in the kitchen”. This I have found to be greatly true after the numerous times I have tried to loose wieght. Today was an off day for me but ready to get my butt kicked tomorrow morning and super excited for our super hero pumpkin bootcamp!!! I hope everyone dresses up even if you just make up your own super hero, I think it will make Saturday that much more fun! Congrats to all you ladies for sticking with it we can do it! Just remember there are strength in numbers! I’m here for anyone if you just need an ear to listen or words of encouragment! Loving sharing this experience with all of you!
Starting with this challenge, my family (mostly me) decided that we would not eat out so much. In some weeks, we were eating dinner out mid-week and then on Fridays and Saturdays. We are now eating out only on our ‘free day’. No one really misses it and we are saving a ton of money. This isn’t hard to do when we have meals planned and shopping done on Sunday.
When we do eat out, I am making better choices – even on the ‘free days’. Today, I ate out for lunch because my husband ate ALL of the turkey chili I made yesterday and had planned to have for lunch today. I learned that the Dragon sauce at Tokyo Joe’s is not the best choice (calories and sodium) but that opting for the salmon over the chicken is a great way to get more protein. There is power in knowledge!
I am so excited over the results I’m seeing. (My husband even noticed and he’s pretty oblivious.) I know that not everyone is having the same experience or at least not at the same rate, but Jess was right last night. We didn’t get to where we are overnight. So keep working hard, ladies! Results will come in time with the right attitude and habits.
Thank you to Jess for kicking my butt again last night and pointing out that I am getting stronger. I feel stronger and starting to believe in myself. Thank you to both Priscilla and Jess for the serious ‘get you butt in gear’ talk about eating habits. I know that is why I am not losing weight and I have to start eating better.
I decided about a week or so ago that I was going to make a website for sharing healthy recipes. I know there are TONS out there now, but I love to cook and love cookbooks (I have more cookbooks than some women have shoes) so I thought I would share my strange obsession with the world! Feel free to browse the new site with some of my favorite recipes. Be gentle, I just started it today but I hope to add the ability for everyone to post their favorite healthy recipes soon. http://www.nobouillon.com/. Enjoy!
Last nights talk about eating out was full of great info! I was pleased to hear that a lot of Terri’s advice about checking nutritional facts online is something I already do. It is a little more work but its worth it and I’m always surprised to find out that some of the things you think are a healthier, better choice in some restaurants really aren’t. Also what really stood out to me was when Teri said “one meal can make a difference.” This statement is so true, with one meal you can either start down a slippery slope of your own demise or with one meal you can feel better, gain energy, and continue onto your goals of fitting into an old pair of jeans!
I started out this week a little frustrated because I am not seeing the results I want on the scale BUT I am seeing results in the mirror. Is that possible? I’ve noticed that I need to eat a high protein and low-moderate amounts of carbs to get any results. If any of you have any yummy healthy recipes I would like to hear about them, as I am running low on creative ideas.
In the class two weeks ago a lot of you mentioned that you have an account with “my fitness pal” well my username is Roxaesch. Look me up and add me. It would be nice to have some friends on there and it would make me feel more accountable about the foods I’m eating.
I’m really feeling the competition this week and its motivating me to better myself this week. My goal this week is to drink more water and to exercise on the days I don’t have boot camp!
Positive affirmation for this week: I am a winner! I am a success story!
Sorry I had to miss last night’s class–sudden change in daughter’s dance class which is why it is so hard to stick to a game plan! A couple of weeks ago I had to miss a work out becasue a mom backed out of picking up kids and I had to fill in.
Only did one boot camp class last week but did a 5K with my hubby and two of our dogs on Saturday. Did an average time for me (47 minutes–my best is 33 when I was in shape 5 years ago) but definitely wore out the dogs!!
Working at changing habits slowly. More protein and fewer carbs. Work is hardest where I sit all day. My office is right next to the table where everyone brings in snacks. Have been resisting for the most part and someone actually brought in apples yesterday! When I get the urge to snack, I go walk the stairwell (six flights) or do a quick walk outside the building. Have lost 3 pounds which isn’t a lot but it’s better than gaining!
I am impressed with all the women in this class. Gives me inspiration in spite of my chaotic lifestyle!
Thanks! Connie
So after a somewhat negative start to last week, I feel like I totally pulled it together- mentally, physically, etc, and started this week on a high. I’ve lost just a few punds, but my pants are way looser, and I feel better. I really focused on my diet last week and I could feel the difference. Woohoo! Plus, how great was last night’s class? I think Terri’s tough love stance on “face it, calories matter. Period.” totally resonated with me. I like hearing it straight and direct like that. I’m so glad to see how well everyone else is doing! Way to go ladies. You are bringing your A game and inspiring me to bring mine.
I talked to Sarah after class yesterday, and we were thinking of doing a walk/hike around Chatfield Resevoir at maybe 2:30 on Sunday. Everyone is welcome! What a great idea, Sarah
Brittany~ I too missed the nutrition class and am excited to watch the video! Nice tip about checking websites for nutritional information. I hate it when a restaurant doesn’t have information available. Makes me wonder!!!
I just have a great attitude today. Although I haven’t lost the pounds that I was hoping for, I have noticed changes in my body and my life outlook. I haven’t been this positive about my progress in a long time. Before, I would have good days and then a string of bad days regarding my ‘health journey’. I have had a string of good days and it is feeling great. I feel like I have turned a corner or have climbed to the top of a mountain. Here is to keeping it going!
**Positive affirmation (that is sticking with me): I am a beautiful woman, in control of my cravings and on my way to a healthier me!
I am missing out tonight due to my husband needing to work late and having to stay home with me little one but I am excited to watch the video of the class tonight!
Something that helps me when I eat out is to look at the menu and nutrition information online before hand. I decide what I want ahead of time and then I don’t have to look at the menu and since I have looked at the nutritional information I already know what is really bad for me on there!
Hope everyone has a great week!
